Visual Arts: Artists & Animals (Advanced)
with Alex Fischer
Ages: for students entering 3rd through 5th grade
This advanced art program will explore the animals themes of famous artists, with students making their own creature creations using the techniques and media of the greats! We'll make use of a variety of materials and mixed media, from painting to clay and beyond. First participants will explore the works of Laurel Birch, using her colorful stylized cat paintings and jewelry as inspiration for their own creations. Then students will study artist Henri Rousseau and his jungle paintings. From there each young artist will create a jungle themed diorama creation using a shoe box, construction paper, and paint.
