Dates: July 6-10. Ages: 9-12. Schedule: 9:00-12:00
Ever play the piano on a keyboard made of bananas? Or play a video game using a controller made from Play-Doh? If not, join the Montessori School of Northampton for a week of engineering and design mayhem! Campers will design their own simple electrical circuits using the Makey Makey and explore the fundamentals of coding with Scratch. Warning: a few bananas may be injured in the process!
This camp, for self-reliant kids aged 9 through 12, will meet on Zoom from 9-12 each morning Monday through Friday from July 6-July 10. The first hour of each day will consist of a lesson and demonstration followed by time for individual project work and one-on-one project support. We’ll share our creations with a group exhibition on Friday morning.
The week prior to camp, campers will receive a small package of specialized materials including the Makey Makey circuit board for use during camp, but families will need to supply some inexpensive and easy to find household items for different activities and their camper’s project.
Campers will need access to a dedicated Windows or Apple computer, or a Chromebook for the week. Looking forward to making something with you!
