Film & Videography
with Tom Knight
For students entering grades 1, 2, & 3
Time: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Lights! Camera! Action! Participants will learn camera operation, directing, and editing, as well as writing and acting. The focus will be giving students the tools and skills they need to pursue their passions and interests through film. On Day 1, we start by making music videos, then through the week we'll create other shorts like commercials, trailers, and interviews, as well as a longer narrative film. The last day of class will feature the premiere of the films created during the week.
Tom Knight is a videographer and filmmaker who loves teaching. Besides making videos for musicians and web sites, Tom is also a puppeteer and songwriter and has been performing regularly at schools, libraries and festivals for over 25 years. To learn more about Tom Knight go to TomKnight.com or view his video “Elephant’s Lullaby” on YouTube. This is his sixth year teaching in the MSN Summer Program.
This summer we will be taking very specific safety precautions to ensure the health of students and staff: requiring all students and staff to wear masks, socially distance and routinely wash hands, keeping each classroom size lower than usual, daily health screenings, and emphasizing outdoor class as much as possible. Outdoor class time will occur under a large tent or on our expansive playground.
